Today, November 2, in México, we celebrate the Dead's Day. This is a very important celebration in my country because we believe that this can bring the spirits from those who are not longer with us in this world, and purify their soul.
This believing has pass trought the time, since prehispanical ages. The Aztecas actually buried their beloved people with objects that mean something to the dead person, by otherhand, it could also be objects that helped them to cross save to the World's Dead.
But then happen this Inquisicion thing and many traditions were lost. But also, this believings became different. Instead of bury people with objects, their families make some "ofrendas" to them. This ofrendas consist in putting some photos of the person, then some alcohol he used to drink, like pulque or mezcal or tequila. Food he liked (mexican food mostly), some skulls made with sugar and with a paper with his name in it. Dead's Bread, also with sugar on the top. In case of the Dead Children's Day(November first), you can put some toys. The ofrenda most have some Cempaxochitl flowers, this is color yellow, with 400 petals, and it symbolizes the sun iluminating their road to follow.
