About Me:
I've been in scouting for over 12 years now. I am currently the Cubmaster of my Pack, Advancement Chair for my Troop, Associate Advisor of my Crew. I'm also the proud parent of an Eagle Scout (class of '07) and currently have a son who's almost an Eagle Scout.

I am currently the "oldest fixture" in my Cub Scout Pack. I've been with it for 13 years and went from being an Assistant Den Leader to my oldest son to going through all the Den Leader positions with my youngest son, and am now Cubmaster. I have been with my Scout Troop for 9 years and have served as a Troop Committee Member, Webelos to Scout Transition Chair, and am currently the Advancement Chair for my Troop, with my first order of "businesss" being 2 Eagle boards of review and getting their paperwork in order for review by National BSA in Texas. ( I bet a lot of you didn't know it takes around 3 hours to make sure everything is in order!)

I've earned my Tiger Leader knot, my Den leader knot, My Cub Scouter knot, my Cubmaster knot, my Webelos leader knot, and my District Award of Merit.

I am also a member of the Order of the Arrow and a merit badge counselor and when I'm not involved in those activities I am on the Council training team and teach "Cubmaster Specifics"

An Old Article About My Son's Eagle Scout Leadership Project

Teen gathers shoes for homeless
in effort to become an Eagle Scout

Project Shoes: Shiraz Sorabji, a senior at Westmont High
School who lives in Campbell, is gathering shoes for San Francisco’s
Glide Memorial Church in the Tenderloin as his Eagle Scout project.
By LYNN CROCKER

Westmont High School student
Shiraz Sorabji never gave shoes
much thought until he went to
the Tenderloin in San Francisco. That’s
when he saw a woman crossing the street
with plastic bags on her feet, because she
had no shoes.
Shiraz knew immediately what he wanted
to do for his Eagle Scout project. Now
the Boy Scout, in his last year of high
school, is on a mission. He is rallying his
community for donations of new shoes or
funds to purchase footwear.
The trip into the Tenderloin was part of
an “American Experience” class he was
taking at Westmont High School.
“It was a good experience because not a
lot of people are aware of the homeless, or
if they see a homeless person they ignore
them,” says Shiraz, who lives with his family
in Campbell. “I realized after talking
with them that they are human beings with
feelings just like me.”
Back home, Shiraz, 17, wrote a project
overview that outlined the scope of the
shoe-collection campaign and established
an organizational chart that broke the
overall challenge into subgroups. The
overview and organizational chart were
presented to a Boy Scout review committee,
which gave Shiraz its approval.
Shiraz operates as project manager and
oversees the work of the others.
“The idea for the Eagle Scout Leadership
service project is to help the boy learn
how to deal with others and lead them,”
says Daraius Sorabji, Shiraz’s father.
While most Eagle Scout candidates focus
their efforts on community service-oriented
projects such as building benches for a local
park or installing mileage markers along a
walking and jogging path, Shiraz took the
third promise of the Boy Scout oath—to help
people at all times—to heart and selected a
human service-oriented project.
Shiraz has until he turns 18 to complete
his service project. His goal is to donate 200
pairs of shoes to Glide Memorial Church
by December so the shoes are available to
those in need during the cold winter
months. He also plans to target local businesses
and manufacturers for donations.
About 5 percent of Boy Scouts reach the
rank of Eagle, the highest rank attainable.
For Shiraz, the completion of his project
will mean more than the achievement of a
lifelong goal.
“I hope to get a sense of knowing that I
helped someone, that I made a difference
in their lives and maybe gave someone
hope,” he says.

*** By the time "Project Shoes" finished in Dec. 2006 my son had collected 400 pairs of shoes and $2500.00 in donations.
Give some words for peace all over the world
Let there be peace on earth and let it begin in us.

Thank you for joining Catholic Scouts!
MAY THE GREAT GREAT SCOUTMASTER CONTINUE
TO GUIDE US TO DO A GOOD TURN DAILY!

I just want to make it clear folks, I created this group, the Catholic Scouts to advocate its presence, it is a short word for the "National Catholic Committee on Scouting" (NCCS) it is a church committee of concerned Catholic lay people and clergy who see as their mission the constructive use of the program of the Scouting Movement as a viable form of youth ministry with the Catholic youth of our nation. The committee, seeks to sustain and strengthen the relationship between Scouting and the Catholic Church. Through interaction and dialogue with the Secretariat on the Laity of Catholic Bishops, NCCS works cooperatively with various other groups involved in youth ministry in the world.

This is to remind us that no matter where or what Scouting Program you belong to, whether your a BSA or BSP, a Rover or a Girl Scout as a SCOUT, we should LIVE BY THE SCOUT OATH AND LAW, and the very point of this is our DUTY TO GOD!!!

once gain,
THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS US ALL!

Hi again Lori
Now I got to The Quartermaster's Store - but while I was trying to mach music and wordt (I am NOT musically giftet at all!!!) I got around to the links to other songs etc etc and I ended up in the UK Girl Guides main homepage - I think. If you havent been there then I suggest you took a look on their Change The World - programme. I think the idea was great and it seems to hold no end af possibilities for most levels of scouting. One does certainly get around the world of ideas excisting in scouting - I think it's just wonderful.
Right now 80% of my family is "floating" in the sofas down-stairs in the livingroom munching sweets and watching a movie where some of the scenes have been filmed just 5 miles from here which ofcourse is rather exciting.
Well Lori, have a nice week-end - hopefully your wheather is better than our's which has been gray and dull today, however rather mild for a change.
Lots of love
Lene
