Gerardo Martínez Hernández's Page

I was born in 1979 inside a scout family, both of my grand fathers and parents were or are scouts. In the side of my father family, my grandfather "Ignacio Martínez González" founded the first scout group in my city –Puebla- in may 1933.
The same group -the 1st of Puebla- has been working without rest since that time, and is one of the oldest of my country. I entered to this group in 1986 as a wolf cub, Scout and Rover obtaining the leaping wolf badge, the Eagle Scout Knight badge and my rover investiture.
After some differences during my position as Akela in 2003 with other friends created the first independent association in México recognized by the World Federation of Independent Scouts, later in 2004 was created the Agrupación Scout Mexicana, A.C. (Mexican Scout Group) when I took the position of President.
In 2005 I was the interim chairman of the World Federation of Independent Scouts in South America, for this and other reason I was decorated by the BPSA of Canada.
In 2006 I took the position of Chairman of the North American Region. I am the first person inside the WFIS that have been two times in a regional chairman position.
During all this time part of our educative project has been extended to other regions as USA, Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Bolivia. We believe in traditions with basics and bases but we must not forget the development of the educational sciences and other ideas around education that could helpful for the kids inside the scouting movement.
Actually I am Scout Master too; I have a Troop of boys with six patrols and I am involved as a General Coordinator in the World WFIS Jamboree 2011 that will be held in Puebla, México. This Jamboree is for all the independent Scout Associations.
