Clean Up the World

Clean Up the World is a global campaign that inspires and empowers communities to clean up, fix up and conserve their environment. Held in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme, it mobilises an estimated 35 million people across 120 countries.

In 2010, World Environment Day is on June 5 and Clean Up the World Weekend is on September 17 - 19. This year we are encouraging participants in Clean Up the World to act locally to care for nature in the International Year of Biodiversity. Our 2010 tag line is: "Communities Caring for Nature". Register your group's activity today! by clicking on this portail http://activities.cleanuptheworld.org/index.html?lang_id=en

In the Clean up the World Report for 2009, World Scouting receives recognition for its support to Clean up the World (CUW). CUW works in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and in its Global Activity Report, launched to support World Environment Day on 5 June, WOSM is recognised as a key 'Ally'. Scout activities are highlighted in the report.

Activities ranged from cleaning up small villages to national clean up events. Across many regions, communities also implemented recycling programmes, energy conservation, tree planting and awareness raising activities. http://www.scout.org/en/information_events/news/2010/on_world_environment_day_world_scouting_receives_recognition_for_its_support_to_clean_up_the_world

Hello Farouk .. Looking forward to this weekends "Clean Up the World" . My Scouts will watch Ian's and Luc's U-Tube videos at Unit Meeting on Friday and we will plant flowering plants in our School yard on Saturday and join with the National Association to clean up a portion of our coastal zone at our seawall on Sunday. Dear leader Tarek;
Thank you very much for sharing your environment impact with whole members of the group which, surely, will encourage us to run such amazing activities locally in order to make the world more clean.
I suggest to the administration of Scouting4peace to adopt the theme this year of the Clean up the World on the site.
You are welcome leader, I have learnt from Scouting4peace to share ideas and experiences with all members of Scouting4peace, so I think it is duty :)

With my best wishes
