Scouting4peace Concert 14th march 2009

Due to the success of the last concert we will be holding another one in the inspeak room on Saturday 14th March 2009 7pm till 10.30pm GMT

The songs and readings should be from your country and if they can be about peace as this is the theme of the conert ,even if you cant sing then maybe you could read a poem , make a short speech, play music etc.

Most important please make sure your microphones are in good working order, maybe come to the room and try your mic's out.

Here is the link for inspeak www.inspeak.com
It can be found in the groups section under sports and hobbies just click on the room scouting4peace and you will be there. Please note that the room will only show up if an admin has opened the room.

If you dont wish to take part do come along and be the audience and suport those taking part.

This concert will show how all countries and nations can come together and share the gift of music and speech.

See you there !!!!!

Concert In Suport of Gaza

SATURDAY 24th January 7.30pm to 10.30pm GMT
Inspeak Room
www.inspeak.com

We are all horrified to see the events of the last weeks unfolding in Gaza Palestine, and I know feelings are running high amongst our members, so I thought it might be nice to have an event or concert where members can discuss, play peace songs only (Due to the serious subject it is not right to have happy or funny songs) read poetry etc, to show our support for Palestinian scouters some who have perished in the conflict and the sufferings of the people of Gaza.
All I ask is that the evening if it does go ahead is managed in a friendly manner and try if possible to leave the hard politics on the sidelines, as we are not supposed to be political as scouters, so I know it will be hard.
So hope to hear your views on whether it will be a good idea to have this event, as we have the Inspeak room so it seems a good idea to make use of it.

Maltese and Polish Scouts tap into the EU's 'Youth in Action' Programme
The Qrendi Scout Group have just returned from a Scout youth exchange programme, entitled 'Never Ending Story', held in Poland, as part of the EU 'Youth in Action' Programme.

The international gathering was held between from 21-31 July 2008, at the Berdo Scout Campsite, located near Myczkowce a small village, situated in the San River valley in the very heart of the Bieszczady Mountains. The campsite, which was a ten minute boat ride from the mainland, was located on an island on the largest artificial body of water in Poland- the Solina Reservoir.

Ten Scouts, aged between 13 and 18 years of age, joined 11 similar Polish Scouts from Hufiec ZHP Szczecin, 88 Druzyna Harcerska of the Zwiazek Harcerstwa Polskiego (the Polish Scout and Guide Association), at this programme.

The Bieszczady mountain region forms part of UNESCO’s list of the World’s Biosphere Reserves, where the Scouts participated in a 2-day expedition deep into the Bieszczadzki National Park.

The Youth Action Activities throughout the programme included the gathering and presentation of information on the heritage, cultural diversity, and general information of each of the EU member States. Mud and water games, fresh water fishing, Scouting woodcraft, trekking and camouflage activities, brainstorming sessions, environmental discussions and teamwork games, also formed part of the programme.

Polish and Maltese songs and dances were performed by the participants during the daily Scouting campfires.

The Polish exchanged ended with a two day tour of the City of Krakow, and included visits to Wawel Castle, the Kazimierz district and the Aushwitz-Birkenau concentration camps.

Youth in Action is the Programme the European Union has set up for young people. It aims to inspire a sense of active European citizenship, solidarity and tolerance among young Europeans and to involve them in shaping the Union's future. It promotes mobility within and beyond the EU's borders, non-formal learning and intercultural dialogue, and encourages the inclusion of all young people, regardless of their educational, social and cultural background: Youth in Action is a Programme for all, offering financial assistance to its various programme’s applicants.
