I’ve been following the news about the quake and tsunami in Japan since late this afternoon. It’s very sad in my part since Japan is already a part of my heart.
So around 2:45 this afternoon. A magnitude 8.9 earthquake hit Japan’s north east coast followed by 50 aftershock and a gigantic 23 foot tsunami. It’s really devastating to hear this apocalyptic time of natural disaster hitting Japan. An estimated 200-300 bodies were found in Sendai city which was the closest epicenter to the earthquake.
I’m hoping everyone to pray for the casualties and the survivors of the earthquake. I can’t bare to see Japan like this. And I think it’s gonna take some time before they recover from the massive damage the earthquake and tsunami did to Japan.
I just thank God that it didn’t hit our country that bad. God has all the answer why this has happened. I hope that every country in the world will pray together that this disaster won’t struck again.
let us light candles and continue our prayers to our brothers and sisters in Japan
To our Scouts and Scouters from Harry Isaka, Yokohama, Japan.
As you are all aware of the natural disaster, we have people in northern Japan with lost and missing families and friends. News media runs 24hrs with no commercials.
Unlike other earthquake disasters, tidal waves(Tsunamis) live from helicopters are aired and we see what tsunamis are from the beginning until it sweep the cities and small towns. Especially, when the earthquake epicenter is located near the land, it comes within 15 - 30 minutes at the speed of 900kms or a bit slower than a jet airliner flying at 12,000meters.
Although, we are always prepared for earthquake, the uncontrollable power of nature is too strong to withstand, that means human beings have their limits. But as we say, Be Prepared, not only with tools, but with personal technic, tactics, unbreakable heart and soul, love for everyone, and sharing of our hearts.
Sadly, disaster figures will rise with one more digit, more than 10,000. Schools, nursery, hospitals, elderly homes, trains, trucks, boats all washed away. Really sad, but we must overcome, for the next generation and as a example to people who have already experienced and who has the possibility of facing earthquake (hope they will not) or tsunami.
